Empower yourself to success through a positive mindset
I am a great believer that you can empower yourself to success by adopting a positive way of thinking.
There are a long list of factors in life that can lead to stress and negativity. We can feel overwhelmed with social media, the news, and politics, as well as the strain of keeping all of life’s plates spinning. It can feel like we are being constantly bombarded with things to worry about and that can lead to a defeatist and pessimistic mentality.
Here at DM Recruitment I have been focussing on bringing a positive mindset to the business, and I’ve noticed a big change in my team and myself. We are now able to stay more focussed on tasks, generally feel happier in life and we are more productive at work.
We are not the only ones who think so. Research from the University of Oxford found evidence that suggested happy workers are 13% more productive.
With a new year around the corner, now is the perfect time to work on adjusting your mindset ready to spring in to action at the start of January.
How to adopt a positive attitude
It isn’t as instant as flicking a switch, and it will require you to keep checking in with yourself to make sure you are keeping on track.
First, recognise what your current mindset is and find a way to adjust it.
If you are someone whose first thought when you are presented with a challenge is, “I can’t do this,” then remind yourself of your achievements and what you have accomplished, to prove to yourself why you absolutely can do it!
If you are someone who can’t help but to think about past failures, learn to recognise your mistakes as a lesson and something that you can’t change but can learn from. Try to stay in the here and now, to stop your mind drifting back to times when things didn’t go to plan.
If you think negative thoughts, like, “I’m awful at sales calls,” change it to, “If I keep going, I’ll keep getting better.” A positive spin on challengers can unlock your true potential.
It may feel clichéd, but positive affirmations at the start of the day will carry through in to the rest of your day too, even if it’s simply, “Today will be a good day!” And when things go to plan, celebrate the victories, however small, it will give you momentum to tackle the next challenge around the corner.
If everyone in your team or workplace can adopt a can-do, positive attitude, the positivity will bounce off one another and lift you all further.
As polymath Albert Schweitzer said, “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.”
